Slim Chickens Returning to Gilbert After Years Away

by KEVIN MCKIERNAN

Slim Chickens is getting ready to break ground on a new East Valley location at the Fry’s plaza on the northwest corner of Power Road and Elliot Road in Gilbert.

For longtime East Valley residents, the brand may sound familiar. Slim Chickens previously operated in the area with locations in Gilbert and Chandler, but both eventually closed by 2019 after the chain first entered the Valley in 2016.

Now the fast-growing chicken chain appears set to make a comeback in Gilbert with a brand-new restaurant planned for the busy Power & Elliot corridor.

For those unfamiliar with the concept, Slim Chickens specializes in hand-breaded chicken tenders, wings, sandwiches, wraps, and salads, along with a lineup of signature dipping sauces that have helped build a loyal following in markets across the country.

Interestingly, the brand once had a location just north of Downtown Gilbert, which closed back in 2018, leaving the East Valley without a Slim Chickens for several years.

With construction expected to begin soon at the Fry’s plaza, this will mark Slim Chickens’ return to the East Valley and add another dining option to one of Gilbert’s growing retail corners.
