Mendocino Farms Coming to Epicenter in Gilbert, Arizona
Popular sandwich and salad restaurant plans to combine two former retail spaces into a 4,428-square-foot location with expanded patio seating.
GILBERT, AZ — October 20, 2026 — A new restaurant is in the works for one of Gilbert's most popular dining destinations. Mendocino Farms, known for its creative sandwiches, fresh salads, and seasonal ingredients, is planning to open at Epicenter at Agritopia, located near Higley and Ray roads.
The project has reportedly been in the works for some time and would transform two existing spaces at Epicenter into one larger restaurant.
According to the proposed plans, Mendocino Farms would take over the former Gadzooks and Why I Love Where I Live storefronts, combining the spaces into a 4,428-square-foot restaurant with additional outdoor patio space.
Two Former Epicenter Spaces Becoming One Restaurant
The proposed location represents a notable change to Epicenter's mix of restaurants and retailers.
Gadzooks, known for its Mexican-inspired menu, was among the original dining businesses at the development. The neighboring Why I Love Where I Live boutique, which sold locally inspired gifts, apparel, and merchandise, closed its Gilbert storefront on August 30, 2026, after more than three years at Epicenter.
Rather than replacing these spaces with two separate businesses, the Mendocino Farms proposal would combine them to accommodate a larger restaurant footprint and expanded patio seating.
The additional outdoor space could be particularly appealing during Gilbert's cooler months, when outdoor dining is a popular option for residents and visitors.
What Is Mendocino Farms?
Mendocino Farms is a fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in chef-inspired sandwiches, salads, and fresh ingredients.
Unlike traditional sandwich shops, Mendocino Farms focuses on creative combinations, seasonal flavors, and an elevated casual dining experience.
Its menu features a variety of sandwiches, hearty salads, and vegetarian-friendly options, making it a destination for everything from a quick lunch to a casual dinner.
The restaurant's concept appears to be a natural fit for Epicenter, which has developed a reputation for offering a diverse selection of dining experiences in a walkable setting.
Epicenter Continues to Evolve
Located at the northwest corner of Higley and Ray roads, Epicenter at Agritopia has become one of Gilbert's recognizable destinations for restaurants, shopping, and entertainment.
The mixed-use development brings together dining establishments, boutique shops, fitness businesses, and residential living within the larger Agritopia community.
The potential addition of Mendocino Farms reflects the continued evolution of the development as tenant spaces change and new restaurant concepts look to establish themselves in Gilbert.
When Will Mendocino Farms Open in Gilbert?
Although the project has been in the works for a while, an official opening date has not been announced.
Additional details regarding construction, patio improvements, and the restaurant's anticipated opening timeline have not yet been confirmed.
If the project moves forward as planned, Mendocino Farms would give Gilbert residents another option for sandwiches, salads, and casual dining at Epicenter.
East Valley NOW will continue following the project and provide updates as more information becomes available.
